Provincial Budget 2010

The Provincial budget for fiscal year 2010-11 was presented to the Legislature on March 2. The budget documents provide 'Estimates' for this fiscal year and also project out what they anticipate their budgets will be for each ministry over the next three years, to the end of March 2013. Most of the social development ministries budgets are 'flat lined' - or close to flat-lined - for the next three years. Given that cost pressures are mounting and will continue to mount over this time (including general cost of living, HST related costs, Municipal Pension Plan implementation, etc). These budgets will result in service and program reductions and shifting priorities in government spending. These documents provide high level information only and we do not yet have many of the details that will allow us to provide a detailed analysis and assessment of impacts. This information will be shared by ministry officials in the next few weeks.
